This solution is for Capacity building and Strengthening/Developing Entrepreneurial skills of under served/vulnerable youths in a rural region.It is applicable for countries who wants to retain their youths to be present as doers serving their home country and has direct implication on building entrepreneurial skills of youths.

Our pitch:

Youths are the foundation, powerhouse, future hope and leaders of nation. But their potentiality has been ignored or undermined. It is pity, in Nepal youths are disappearing from their communities and from the nation for serving the developed countries often leaving back only children, disables and elderly people in the home. This has suffered rural economy due to implication on farming. It is a very serious issue to the nation. Since there is little or no choice for youth to engage in own country, they ultimately leave. They are not able to start enterprises because they lack entrepreneurial knowledge, courage and technical skill. Low risk taking ability, limited exposure and insufficient capital has added to these problems.

My solution includes Identification and  selection  of youth  and youth Group, establish an innovation hub at respective community, capacity building activities; Training Of Trainer (TOT) on developing apps,mobile repairing,plumbing ,Organic farming, production, processing and marketing techniques, TOT on quality assurance/organic certification process in case of agriculture, identification of suitable enterprise for each group. Workshop on Market linkage/development, Sharing/Interaction program at community level, Training on Conflict management mediation through reconciliation.. Establishment of collection, processing and packing  and market outlet of products developed by youths. Exposure visit to learn new skills.

Why scalable?

Local youth developed as role model entrepreneurs, plan of replication of training to general farmers or agriculture enterprise,  future business plan  of tech-it enterprise . Stopped migration of youth drastically, youths behave with community people and others with high self esteem, Linkage with Microfinance company/banks and market established  as milestone. Empowered women contributing to reduce violence and gender discrimination in the communities, exhibit cases of conflict management at local level through reconciliation.

The problem:

A main reason of Nepal being the poorest nation is due to decade of political instability and conflict.  Further the difficult terrain, poor infrastructure, reliance on an external agricultural input and disappearance of youths in farming and from the country in search of job in the foreign countries adds to the difficulties of the poor in rural areas.Lack of technical skills  and education is a major problem.So the question arises what does the 4 million unemployed youths do to retain themselves in their home in Nepal.

Why our solution will solve the problem:

I went to Bhimtaar ,an earthquake affected district,the scenarios of yoths there and my interrogation with them brought this solution as an outcome.

Target Outcomes

Our target outcomes:

Target-Underserved young adults aged 18 to 25 in a rural region of Nepal
1. trained and organised youth (3 Group X 20 member X 3 VDCs) with increased level of awareness on organic agriculture based enterprises.
2.  Youth Hubs/group / CBO legally registered and led by the respective trained youth
3.  youths self employed by identifying and starting suitable enterprises for short and long term income.
4.  Model Hub serving as common place of youth to share and disseminate knowledge.

How we will measure our progress:

  • Outcome: trained and organised youth (3 Group X 20 member X 3 VDCs) with increased level of awareness on organic agriculture based enterprises,tech enterprises
    Measurement Plan: Monitoring by Vdc,submission of the final products
  • Outcome: Youth Hubs/group / CBO legally registered and led by the respective trained youth
    Measurement Plan: Their registration and weekly progress reports submitted
  • Outcome: youths self employed by identifying and starting suitable enterprises for short and long term income.
    Measurement Plan: Launching of their final apps,organicproducts and tracking consumption to markets

This solution has direct implication on the youth as responsible humans who can role play as models solving the pressing issues of their community.The solution seeks engagement of local resources to solve global problems which are affecting their community .

How people will access our solution:

It will be affordable ad addreesss their daily necessities.For a business to run it must solve people's problem first.The final products of the solution will be chosen so as to they meet communal requirements first so that they will be fully consumptive .

I dont have any partners.But if selected i would like to work involving an NGo named Rural Development Initiative because it works with the motto of starting with the village.
