Brad Tytel

Deputy Director, Global Health Innovations Advocacy, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Brad Tytel leads the foundation’s policy, advocacy, and communications efforts to accelerate the development and introduction of high-impact global health innovations and support other cross-program strategies, including pandemic preparedness and response, collaborative disease surveillance, and the use of artificial intelligence to support health and development goals.

Brad joined the foundation in 2013 as the program officer responsible for immunization advocacy and went on to hold leadership and advisory roles on the Development Policy and Finance team and in the foundation’s Nigeria and India country offices. He left the foundation in 2019 and returned the following year to coordinate its policy and advocacy response to the COVID-19 pandemic, before helping to transition that work into the foundation’s longer-term pandemic preparedness and response advocacy strategy.

An experienced global policy and strategy consultant, Brad was previously vice president at Global Health Strategies, an international advocacy and communications consultancy, where he managed campaigns touching five continents.

Brad has a B.A. in peace and development studies from Amherst College and an M.A. in journalism from New York University.
