Marianne Kiggundu

Former, Country Programmes Manager, VVOB Rwanda

Marianne is a senior leader in the international development sector in East Africa. Working alongside and through government partners as a strategic approach to scaling, she has successfully led the implementation of various donor funded education programmes across East and Southern Africa including the Commonwealth Scholarships & Fellowships programme (in Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe), a Learning Through Play programme (in Uganda, Zambia and Rwanda) and a school leadership professional development programme in Rwanda.

While at British Council Uganda, she led the mainstreaming of equality, diversity and inclusion across all country programmes, leading to Uganda winning the top award in the organisation’s global Diversity Assessment Framework in 2016. As the former Country Programmes manager at VVOB Rwanda, Marianne was the project lead for VVOB’s 2022 'MIT Solve LEAP Challenge’, through which the organisation strengthened its research line connecting school leadership with student learning outcomes.

She is a volunteer mentor at Project Girls4Girls Uganda and on the MasterCard Foundation Scholars’ programme at Makerere University, where she supports students in their transition into the world of work. She is currently enrolled in the 2023 Global Leaders Programme at Common Purpose.
