Mat Honan

Editor in Chief, MIT Technology Review

Mat Honan (he/him) is the editor in chief at MIT Technology Review, where he leads the entire editorial portfolio, including the website, podcasts, newsletters, and print magazine, as well as new platforms and formats under development. Previously, he was an executive editor with BuzzFeed News, where he launched its tech desk, San Francisco bureau, and the company’s Open Lab for Technology, Journalism and the Arts. In addition, he led the organization’s business, health, inequality, science, and world desks. His teams there published impactful journalism that won multiple awards, including the Polk, Livingston, Mirror, and 2021 Pulitzer Prize. A former WIRED magazine columnist and senior writer, Honan has covered the tech industry for more than 20 years. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, children, and dog.
