Sweta Shah

Global Lead, Early Childhood Development, Aga Khan Foundation

Sweta Shah leads the Aga Khan Foundation’s Early Childhood Development portfolio which includes 13 countries in East Africa, Central and South Asia and Europe. The work covers ECD work from pregnancy to 8 years spanning education, health/nutrition, child protection and economic development sectors. Her role includes strategic leadership, development of partnerships, technical support to country programs, support to global ECD work, and supporting staff capacity development.

Prior to joining the Aga Khan Foundation, Sweta worked with the Bernard Van Leer Foundation, Plan International, UNICEF, IRC and other agencies in various roles that included Early Childhood Development, education and child protection. Sweta has 20 years of programmatic, management, strategic planning, capacity development, research and monitoring and evaluation experience at the country and global levels in humanitarian and development settings. She has lived in and worked on programs in East and West Africa, Middle East, Central and South Asia and Latin America.

Sweta holds a PhD in Education/Early Childhood Development from UCL Institute of Education and an MA in International Development and Education from The George Washington University.
